The Oldest and Largest Employers' Trade Union in Malaysia

As members are well aware, the global economic and financial meltdown has forced many companies to either close down, retrench or lay-off their employees. The retrenchment and lay-off of workers will further aggravate the already worsening unemployment problem in the country. Fortunately, this global phenomenon has minimal effect on the plantation companies.

The Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak recently unveiled the Mini Budget in which the government had allocated RM700 Million to create 163,000 training and job placement opportunities in public and private sectors. As part of the initiative, the Ministry of Human Resources had embarked on a nation wide job placement programmes. As caring and responsible corporate citizens we ought to help the government to achieve this noble aim.  In this connection plantation companies that have job vacancies are  strongly advised to register such vacancies with the nearest Labour Department (Jabatan Tenaga Kerja) to facilitate the job placement exercise.
